Chapter 1366
With the phone still pressed to his ear, Cole had never ended the call with Sophie. Aware of everyone watching him, he spoke calmly into the phone. “You heard everything just now, didn’t you?”
On the other end of the line, Sophie was already crying hard. “I did. I heard all of it. I know I was wrong. I’ll fly back to Ublento right now to see your father.” She ended the call the moment she finished speaking.
A quiet breath left Cole as the tension finally eased from his body. Sophie had broken through the wall she had built around herself. She was finally coming back, and she was ready to face Jarrett, even with the scars she carried.
Moments later, the doors to the emergency room opened, and the medical staff carefully pushed Jarrett out on a hospital bed. Though he was awake, his strength was clearly gone, and he lay there looking painfully frail.
As Ruben and Diane hurried to his side, Jarrett managed a weak smile filled with self-blame. “I’m sorry. I made you worry.”
Tears streamed down Ruben’s and Diane’s faces as they stood there in silence. They understood the suffering weighing on their son’s heart, yet there was nothing they could do to carry that pain for him.
Moving closer to the bed, Cole lowered his voice and spoke gently. “Dad, I found Mom.”
The words hit Jarrett so suddenly that his mind stalled. He stared at Cole in disbelief, waiting for him to repeat it.
Shock spread across Ruben’s and Diane’s faces as well. “Cole, what did you just say?” Diane asked.
Without hesitation, Cole said, “I said I found my mother. I really did. She’s already on her way back to Ublento to see my dad, and you’ll be seeing her very soon.”
At these words, Jarrett, weak as he was, pushed himself upright. His voice trembled as he looked at Cole. “Cole… you really found her? You’re not lying to me, are you?”
Cole reached out and gave Jarrett’s hand a steady squeeze. “Dad, I didn’t lie. Mom is coming back to see you.”

The uncertainty in Jarrett’s eyes slowly dissolved, replaced by a rush of emotion. “Cole, you have to tell me everything! How did you find her? Has she… been doing well all these years? How is she now?”
Unable to stay quiet, Ruben and Diane leaned in at the same time. “Cole, why did Sophie leave so suddenly back then?” Diane asked. “Where has she been hiding all these years?”
Questions piled up faster than answers could be given, and the hallway was far too crowded for explanations. Knowing this was not the right place, Cole asked the staff to move Jarrett to a private room first.
After Jarrett was settled and everyone else stepped out, Cole sat down and explained everything from start to finish, leaving nothing out.
The story left Ruben and Diane in complete shock. They had never imagined that Sophie had carried such a painful past, or that she had survived so many unbearable trials on her own. At least now, the truth was finally out in the open, and the years of uncertainty no longer haunted them.
Jarrett, however, felt no relief. His chest ached as self-reproach took hold of him. “It was all my fault. I couldn’t cure her Psychephrenia. I couldn’t help her through her illness, and that’s why she left. She suffered all those years because of my incompetence.”
